Bath Time Bliss

Posted on

Whilst some boats have a small bath, here on the Herb Boat I just have a shower. A bath is a rare treat provided by landlubber friends. I have a number of such friends here in West Yorkshire, having spent several years here at the University of Bradford, both studying and working, and have been enjoying regular soaks which have eased my achey, arthriticcy old bones a treat. It has also given me a chance to fully test the new range of Herb Boat Bath Salts; blends of organic salts, essential oils, herbs and flowers to elevate your bath time to spa like heaven. And of course, all natural ingredients and no nasty parabens and the like.

There are three blends available; sensual Rose and Ylang Ylang, soothing Cornflower and Calendula with Tea Tree and relaxing Lavender. They can be added directly to your bath or in the re-usable muslin bag provided. Alternatively they can be used as a skin scrub in the shower..

Rose and Ylang Ylang Bath Salts are a sensual blend Organic Himalayan pink, Epsom and Dead Sea salts with rose buds and petals and Ylang Ylang essential oil, known for it's uplifting, aphrodisiac and anti-septic properties.

Cornflower Calendula and Tea Tree Bath Salts are a skin soothing combination of Sea, Epsom and Dead Sea salts, petals from Cornflowers and Calendula (English Marigolds), and Tea Tree essential oil. Cornflower and Calendula petals have anti-bacterial, anti-septic, anti-fungal properties and have been used for centuries to soothe skin conditions and fight infection. Tea Tree Oil is also a strong, natural anti-septic.

Lavender Bath Salts combine the soothing, anti-septic, relaxing properties of Lavender flowers, Lavender Essential Oil and Himalayan Pink, Epsom and Dead Sea Salts making it perfect for a relaxing bedtime soak to promote a good nights sleep.

So what are all these different salts? Himalayan pink salt was laid down 250 million years ago in the mountains of Pakistan, and contains over 80 trace elements and essential minerals. It has anti-septic properties, helps soothe skin conditions and is an excellent detoxifier.

Epsom Salts are named after a mineral spring in Epsom, Surrey. It is not technically a salt but is natural mineral compound, Magnesium Sulphate. The Herb Boat uses true, certified organic Epsom salts mined in Germany, not man made substitutes. Epsom salts have been used for centuries and have been shown to be easily absorbed through the skin and have numerous health benefits, incuding reducing inflamation and helping muscle and nerve function.

The mineral rich salts from the Dead Sea, lying 2,300 feet below sea level making it the lowest place on Earth, are especially rich in Magnesium and Potassium. They stimulate circulation, soften and soothe the skin and promote healing of skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, as well as helping relieve aches and pains.

I also have a selection of complementary Bath Bombs to add a skin softening fizz to your bath and some jewel like, giant nuggets of Himalayan Pink Salt that are perfect for adding to baths
